World Humanitarian Summit, Istanbul, 23-24 May 2016

23.05.2016 The first-ever World Humanitarian Summit, set to take place in Istanbul on 23-24 May 2016, is a global call to action by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

An initiative of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, managed by UN OCHA, the first World Humanitarian Summit will be held in Istanbul on 23 and 24 May 2016 and will bring together governments, humanitarian organizations, people affected by humanitarian crises and new partners including the private sector to propose solutions to our most pressing challenges and set an agenda to keep humanitarian action fit for the future.

The Summit has two goals. First, it will re-inspire and reinvigorate a global commitment to humanity, and in particular to uphold the dignity and safety of the millions of women, men and children who are caught up in crises. Second, it will initiate a set of concrete actions aimed at enabling countries and communities to better prepare for and respond to crises, and be more resilient to shocks.
