Diaspora stakeholders at the World Humanitarian Summit Global Consultation in Geneva, 13-16 October 2015

19.10.2015 The World Humanitarian Summit Global Consultation was an important moment for diaspora communities as their role has been acknowledged and recognized as humanitarian response actors.

Six DEMAC Diaspora representatives engaged in emergency response were invited to participate to the World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) Global Consultation in Geneva on 13-16 October 2015. It has been an important moment for diaspora communities as their role has been acknowledged and recognized as humanitarian response actors. It is very promising for the future in terms of constructive diaspora engagement in humanitarian response.

Diaspora contribution to the WHS Global consultation: Diaspora Recommendations to the WHS

Ade Daramy, Sierra Leonean diaspora representative, reminded the international humanitarian community of the added value that diaspora inclusion can contribute to, while recognizing that diaspora organisations are complementary to other actors and modalities of assistance and cooperation.
