Global Diaspora Summit 2026
The Government of Georgia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will host the Global Diaspora Summit (GDS) 2026 in Tbilisi on 1-2 December, bringing together governments, diaspora leaders, international organizations, private sector representatives, academia, civil society, and development partners from around the world.
The first Global Diaspora Summit, held in Dublin in 2022, resulted in the adoption of the Dublin Declaration, a landmark framework calling for stronger and more systematic engagement of diasporas in development and migration governance. Among its key outcomes was the recommendation to establish a permanent global platform dedicated to diaspora engagement.
This vision became reality in 2024 with the launch of the Global Diaspora Policy Alliance (GDPA) in Cabo Verde. Today, the GDPA serves as a global platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, policy innovation, and partnership-building among governments, diaspora communities, and other stakeholders. Through its thematic work on Health and Well-being, Climate Action, and Gender and Youth Empowerment, the Alliance is helping transform dialogue into concrete action.
GDS 2026 will take stock of this progress and define the next phase of global action on diaspora engagement.
