Federation of Somali Associations Netherlands

The Federation of Somali Associations Netherlands (FSAN) is a platform founded by and for Somalis in 1994. The organization acts as the national advocate and spokesperson for the Somali community in the Netherlands and strives to promote optimal participation of Somalis in Dutch society. and to strengthen the position of the Somali community in general. The starting point is that Somalis themselves are responsible for the well-being of their compatriots and their community. FSAN mainly consists of professionals who use knowledge and vision from their own field for the development of national projects and activities. In addition, the organization stimulates initiatives from the Somali diaspora aimed at peace building and development in Somalia. FSAN supports local organisations, brings them into contact with each other and identifies problems or opportunities that transcend the local level, in order to respond to them with actions and projects. Projects coordinated by FSAN and implemented at local level by local partners are aimed at combating female circumcision, emancipation, social participation, employment, entrepreneurship and mental health care.
