Swisso Kalmo
Swisso stands for "Switzerland" and "Somalia". Kalmo means "help" and "connectedness". Swisso Kalmo is involved in Merca, in a region of Somalia 70 km south of Mogadishu with around 230,000 inhabitants. As one of the few aid organizations in Somalia, we have been working in the health sector in Merca for over 30 years. With private donations from Switzerland, Somalis run an outpatient clinic in the city of Merca, where mainly mothers and their children find help. But people suffering from tuberculosis, malaria and HIV/AIDS are also treated. In addition to basic medical care, young people and adults are also made aware of health issues in the Swisso Kalmo outpatient clinic.
